Jerry & Marty were commissioned as Missionaries in the First Baptist Church of Milford Ohio as Missionaries to Mexico in 1984. They are church planting missionaries with a desire to see people saved. Their ministry began in a remote mountain city in the state of Chihuahua. They spent 15 years in the ministry there. While in Guerrero, they established the Iglesia Bautista Calvario along with several other village churches. The main reason for success was the starting of the School of the Scriptures Bible college in which men were prepared for the ministry. A Bible printing ministry was also started. In 2002 the church was turned over to the national pastor and is now fully self supported.
In 2003 the Collins’ moved to the coastal city of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, a city of 500,000 inhabitants. They started the Iglesia Bautista Fundamental (the main church) and have expanded the ministry with the School of the Scriptures.
God blessed with the purchase of property and in 2008 the construction began to be able to house the Church and the Bible College. The Bible college has been operating in a part-time format, but in January, 2011, Jerry’s father, Bro. Verlis Collins, joined him to get the Escuela de las Escrituras underway.
In January, 2012, Jerry & Marty made a physical move to the border at San Elizario, TX. Located 30 miles East of El Paso and 2 miles from the Mexican border. The Sun Valley Baptist Church in El Paso, TX with pastor Jack Berg became their new sending church. The Mission Base is strategically located to be able to reach Mexican people on both sides of the border. Bridge of Hope ministry was started to be able to achieve that goal. Bro. Verlis & Margret Collins are helping with the ministry as well as Joe & Amy Hendrigsman. The ministry is focused in Church planting in Sinaloa and Chihuahua as well as church planting on the border.
